Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Chess Voice handles information when you use the Chess Voice browser extension.
Effective date

What Chess Voice does
Chess Voice enables consent-based voice communication between two players in the same live Chess.com game. Both players must choose to participate before a voice call starts.
Information we process
- Real-time voice communications during a call.
- Technical signaling data needed to establish and end a WebRTC connection.
- The current Chess.com game page URL or derived room identifier used to pair players in the same game.
What we do not collect
- We do not create user accounts.
- We do not ask for names, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords.
- We do not record or store voice audio.
- We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
How voice data works
Voice audio is transmitted in real time using WebRTC. Audio is intended to flow directly between the two participants, except where network routing requires relay infrastructure to complete the connection. Chess Voice does not use voice audio for analytics, advertising, profiling, or model training.
How signaling data works
A signaling server is used only to help the two browsers establish a voice connection. That server may temporarily process technical connection metadata such as room identifiers, session state, and WebRTC signaling messages. Based on the current implementation, this signaling state is held ephemerally in memory and automatically expires.
How we use information
Information is used only to provide the extension's single purpose: enabling consent-based voice chat between players in the same live Chess.com game.
Sharing of information
Information is not sold to third parties. Information is not shared for advertising or unrelated purposes. Technical data is shared only as necessary to operate the real-time voice connection and related infrastructure.
Data retention
Chess Voice does not store call recordings. Temporary signaling data is retained only as long as needed to establish, maintain, and close the connection, after which it is discarded according to the service's runtime behavior.
Security
Chess Voice is designed to use secure transport where deployed in production, including secure WebSocket signaling and WebRTC-based media transport. No system can guarantee absolute security, but reasonable measures are used to protect data involved in the service.
Children
Chess Voice is not intended for children under 13, and the service is not knowingly designed to collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If the data handling practices of the extension materially change, this page should be updated before or when those changes are released.
